Whats wrong with you ??Its for oldies … ??why are you into this .…?
these are the responses I get when I tell people about meditation and my daily Pranayam routine … While I certainly try to focus on nutrition in my blog here, this ignorance has compelled me to write on a topic absolutely close to my heart
In todays modern and overcompetative world where every human is running the rat race to fulfill their dreams may it be a job, a position ,money ,house or health.....
We no longer know why we live, what we are living for, what we are doing, whether we really want what we want.
We have lost our bearings and are rapidly losing our ultimate dreams. Some of us are conscious of it, many sense it more or less, but the majority don't want to know anything about it. We throw ourselves into work, pleasure, all sort of activities, or turn to alcohol or drugs to avoid the obvious.
No wonder Counselors are in great demand!!
Here I am getting up early in the morning and breathing like crazy through my nose. Is that a way to find the answer? Really, it looks more like losing your marbles than finding your senses.
There is so much competing for our attention, that the practice of meditation and soul searching may just seem silly. Many of us have a system of organization that gets us through our daily routine. This is perfectly fine and often very rewarding when we finish the day, knowing that we accomplished something great. A friend once asked me If i don't feel an inward struggle, if i don't feel lost or in need of self-improvement, if I have got it "all together"...then do I really need to practice meditation?
This is a good question. Why try to sit still and "just breathe", when you thrive on being on the run...and out of breath? For some people, that is just as invigorating and inspiring as meditation.
Many think of incense and monks chanting in a mystical place when they think of meditation. But did you know that speed walking each morning at 6am can be considered meditation? Have you ever sat at the train station, waiting for your ride to the next appointment and just watched people walk by? Have you run along the beach and listened to the waves crashing in the background? Have you ever gone outside after dark and simply practiced free throws? All this can be a form of meditation when you allow it to bring you to a state of mindfulness.
Meditation simply allows us to take it all in, without judgment, without stress, without a feeling of time pressures. By living mindfully and appreciating every moment for exactly what it is, good and bad, we allow our opinions to be just thoughts rather than allowing them to limit our possibilities for growth. When we are so attached to our opinions and judgments of how things should or should not be, we limit our possibility for growth. It's as if our opinions can form a barrier, like a dark cloud blocking the sunshine..
In meditation, mind is brought back to its source. The first step is to relax, and the last step, also is to relax. Meditation is not going somewhere else; it is diving deep inside.

"OUR MENTAL STATES EFFECT OUR BRAINWAVES AND EQUALLY, OUR BRAINWAVES EFFECT OUR MENTAL STATES"
When life is busy and stressful, higher frequencies of brainwaves are produced, creating feelings of stress and anxiety which cause the production of heaps of cortisol which is known as the “stress hormone” and this is extremely bad for your health.
What’s more, the more cortisol you produce, the more stressed you feel...the more vulnerable to disease you are and the faster you age!
Specifically, researchers noted that meditation and yoga increased gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels in the brain. GABA is a chemical that is reduced in mood and anxiety disorders.
A Harvard Medical School study in the journal Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging analyzed brain scans taken before and after an eight-week daily meditation regimen and found increased gray matter in the hippocampus, an area important for learning and memory, and less gray matter in the amygdala, a region connected to anxiety and stress
Many doctors today are implementing meditation into the treatment plans of life threatening diseases as well as reversing mental illnesses
Meditation can lower your oxygen consumption and it can even assist in decreasing your respiratory rate, which can help with many different types of lung conditions as well as relaxation.
It can also be very helpful for heart patients as it helps to increase the patient’s exercise tolerance, making their muscles and heart stronger.
Using mediation daily can help you to build your immune system as it increases the activity of the natural-killer cells that kills the bacteria and cancer cells and it can also reduce your chances of catching viruses as it lowers your emotional distress.
Many women find it very beneficial as meditation can help out to reduce the symptoms of Premenstrual syndrome, reducing the tension and emotional stress that come with a woman’s period
Meditation is also completely FREE! It requires no special equipment, and is not complicated to learn. It can be practiced anywhere, at any given moment, and it is not time consuming (15-20 min. per day is good). Best of all, meditation has NO negative side effects. Bottom line, there is nothing but positive to be gained from it!
There just seems to be no end to the great benefits of meditation
the question you should ask yourself is, “why am I not meditating yet?”
Nutrition is only one aspect of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Meditation and Exercise is vital too, and I concur with these researchers. . And that's why I stand here, huffing and puffing like an express train
When you are calm and centered inside, noise is musical, clouds are magical and the rain is liquid sunshine.
Think about this: This exact moment is the last moment's future; this exact moment is the next moment's past.! |
